Festival Mundial - Tilburg, great music and cultural event

This festival is awesome and considered one of the biggest festival in Europe and also held annually. Art, campaign, music, food are blended together. There were African singers, dutch artists, moldavian band, Spanish band and even Arabic singers on the day I went to. Yes, there are different flavors on the stage from reggae, rap, pop, etc or even traditional music (see the Indian dancers on the photo below), I also happened to see exciting performance from Moldavian Band, Dutch performers, Afrikaans singer, Spanish band and many more on a single day

Regarding art, most of them seemingly come from Africa but the food is quite varied since I was able to choose from Dutch food (kroket, frikadel, frits), Indonesian food (nasi en bakmi ), Thai food, Sate specialty shop, Thai food or even Ethiopian food.

At last, I do enjoy it. Thanks to Lukas and Anne for organizing this couchsurfing gathering and thanks to my new friends I met there

My first visit to Thailand

I'm so impressed to Thailand in my first visit. Their dance, their food, their art, the entertainment, as well as their transvestites (oops) have given strong impression. It's probably like seeing long-lost neighbor, the food itself is quite familiar for me and I got it for free, thanks to my kind friend
The dance looked a bit like dangdut style performance while the fans gathered and danced in front of the stage,
The beauty pageant portrays this country's gorgeous babes but the cabaret show , ooops, reminds me of the other side of this neighboring country

I just have a regret since I'm supposed to visit this neighbor long time ago, anyway I promise myself that I would be back to pay a visit again to this country someday, hopefully in the near future

PS : the photo was taken in my visit last

Sulawesi, Indonesia - National Geographic Adventure Magazine

An amazing journey along with an amazing photo story
My question is surely about my chance to visit this fascinating part of Indonesia's archipelago. Though I'm sure but, when will it happen?

Here's the excerpt (or let's say my copy-paste of the story
========================
Land of the Lost
Ancient ways, deep diving, and monkey business in Southeast Asia. A ten-day jungle expedition to the ends of the Earth.
Text by Jeff Hull
Photography by Ronni Flannery

My wife, Ronni, and I were stumbling along a muddy path in a dense lowland rain forest on Sulawesi—one of Indonesia's 17,500 islands—seeking something found nowhere else on Earth: a spectral tarsier, among the world's smallest and rarest primates. We'd always assumed that hiking through remote jungles in search of endangered wildlife and ancient cultures required a major expedition. Then we spent ten days in Sulawesi. Volcanoes fume above its rain forests; indigenous tribal customs are treated like national treasures; s...

Stuned Day, satu cerita dari KBRI - Den Haag

Seru!!!

Amazing street artists in Spain

From a gold man, a Betty Boo,a witch, man in his private toilet, puppeteer, and dancing indians. They are truly amusing and creative as well. It was taken on my one-week journey a few months ago in autumn (yup, I know better late than never)

It was taken in two places within two big cities, Madrid and Barcelona. , but the most favorable, in spite of its touristy things, is La Rambla, that's seemingly the most-sought tourist destination in Barcelona, undoubtedly I love this city
I didn't manage to capture all photos of all performing street artists since we do need to donate our money for their performance, otherwise they would keep moving, showing their refusal for a photo

I'm so fortunate to choose a nice hostel in Sol, where the street artists are usually present (Thanks to LP for the hostel recommendation). It's also located close to Plaza Mayor, a square where cafes, restaurants attract lots of tourist (and a backpacker like me) so it's truly an ideal place for street artist...

Pasar Malam Tong Tong, Den Haag

Web for cheap flights - low cost and budget airline specialist in Europe & Australasia

Eureka, I found a lovely web to find cheap flights in Europe, Asia and Australia, Examples are like these... it could be only a few cents to go to Italy in summer with Ryan Air
I could also even get relatively cheaper ticket to go to Phuket from Jakarta with Air Asia

Gosh... I wish I could go somewhere to Italy, Greece, Poland, German and other eastern Europe countries sometime with those budget airlines
Thanks Niall for the info

There's actually another web providing similar service but it's a paid service

We're able to watch RCTI, SCTV, Metro TV, Trans TV, Trans7, Indosiar, and Jak TV
For this free service, the web also gives a chance for us to donate

Enjoy

Spring time and the advent of summer

these are the days when the weather has been quite nice and definitely enjoyable, these are the days when I leave my jacket behind and wander freely with my short sleeve T-shirt, my sandals and my short as well
It's surprising to see the sun shines brightly from 6 in the morning for the whole day till around 10 pm
It's fun to see the nature seems like showing its broadest smile to welcome each new day
I'm also stunned to see the beauty of the forest behind my campus, it has not been explored before,
Looking at those nature's beauties along with its creatures has indeed been able to calm a storm inside one's mind, and i'm the obvious instance
at last,
Thank God for the nice weather

Bersyukur di tengah permasalahan

Satu bulan terakhir adalah bulan yang tak akan saya lupa seumur hidup, bulan yang mungkin sekilas terasa seperti bulan penuh cobaan, kecemasan, bimbang dan ketakutan.
The story of love from Catalonia

These photos from Catalonia have inspired me to recall a few things
I’m reminded of the story of a man who gave His life to show His love, the love that is unconditional.
It reminds me that I’m blessed an there is peace upon me.

Taken on top of Tibidabo, a hill overlooking a beautiful catalonian city in Europe, one of the most beautiful and memorable city I have seen so far.
The place itself is amazing and really worth a visit. I'm really fortunate to have a chance to visit this place

and at the end,
Happy Easter
may the true spirit of Easter is with you

We are the reason, a wonderful song that portrays the true spirit of Easter
as we sing this song

"We were (are) the reason
That He gave His life
We were (are) the reason
That He suffered and died
To a world that was lost
He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live"

Happy Easter Everyone ...

Free Online Dictionary : English - Indonesian Dictionary (E-Dictionary) and translation tools

English - Indonesia - Javanese dictionary...
A free online dictionary that might be useful for you, though I prefer to use monolingual dictionary due to more comprehensiveness like Oxford and Webster, this web might be useful input for our language study
I smiled when I translated some typical indonesian words like "dodol", "ojek" and I got the result immediately with good result

Javanese - English online dictionary? it might seem like a joke, but it's not a prank, its service is available if you pay it. I wonder if "bahasa jawa halus" is also available and ..
mmm is there free Javanese - Indonesian online dictionary? any idea? :-P

It’s an amazing idea to be combined with really enjoyable teaching experience in the Faculty of Travelling, Tourism and Backpacking. I would be in charge to go in-depth in the so-called travel science, write my doctoral thesis about “The application of how to enjoy your life to the fullest as a backpacker due to strong support of domestic tourism information management”. As far as I know, I do need to work hard to prepare this rigorous study later.

As a part of the preparation and preliminary study, I would be asked to pay a visit to the most exciting tourist friendly backpacking destinations which are quite varied from Himalayan, exotic small places in Mediterranean until going back to my home country. For Indonesia, the most likely choice is Bali, that’s mainly about Poppies Lane. This preliminary study would make me write a journal report in a journalist style that’s going to be supervised by Tony Wheeler, the founding father of tr...

Adventures-in-Indonesia.co.uk - a portray of Indonesia by a British man

This British bloke has made a wonderful documentation as well as a book about Indonesia after he went to Sumatra, Java, Bali and Lombok.
I find his photos interesting, but to make it more interesting he has done an independent travel across this archipelago that left him with such a deep impression.

Having seen this website with his personal story of his backpacking made me want to order and see his book. It's fun to see the portray of my home country in a different perspective. His website also has cool links such as what CIA thinks about Indonesia hahahaha

Visit his web and enjoy an amazing story to an archipelago country called Indonesia.

Google Books - FREE books to read on internet

Just click the link and you could read the books online for free.
It's unbelievable, all I need is to find the books that I like, click, and find the possibility if they also provide the content, and read this online
It does help me when I need reference for my paper (real written paper not a pepper :-P), so I basically don't need to buy those books and not spend any dime on it or to browse the bibliotheek (library) to find those books.

If you do like some books, just click those books and add on My Library facility on the web provided that you have a google account
Thanks to my professor for her recommendation, it's really helpful
Interested? Just click and

Is it safe to travel to Indonesia?

Is it safe to travel to Indonesia because of the bombing, earthquake, tsunami and many other things?

This question might sound not overwhelming, but on the other hand, a bit naive and show total unfamiliarity of a country called Indonesia. It is also a dull, peculiar and, on certain level, annoying to certain people.

I have seen this question thrown in certain discussion forum for travellers. One day, a Canadian gave this question to Indonesians and I eventually could not refrain myself from replying it.

This is my reply

======================================

it's similar thing that i saw in many travel discussion forums like thorn three of lonely planet
check this out for details
www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forum.jspa?forumID=23&start=0...

so join this traveler forum for more fair insight about Indonesia since people might think that the opinion given by Indonesian is a bit bias,
or join the other traveler forum about Bali (and Indonesia)
boards.bootsnall.com/e...

I love this bright sunny day in the Netherlands

Yes. I love this bright sunny day in the Netherlands since for the last few days, Dutch weather has been truly enjoyable though the temperature is still around 10 degrees Celsius. It already feels like summer. Last week’s weather was horrible though due to strong wind and rain. Now it makes smile and enjoy the nice bright blue sky with some doves and even some seagulls (from the canals) flying near my window. It reminds me that winter is almost over and the coming spring break is supposed to be more enjoyable due to nice Dutchy weather.

Too bad, some Indonesian friends of mine complained about the gloomy day in Jakarta. It was downpour accompanied with wind blowing fast in the downtown and seemingly everyone is really concerned about the possible inundation in the city (again). Anyway, I wish I could share this beautiful weather of mine, sadly it’s only through this story and photos.
